Rome captured our hearts, spirit and imagination. 2000 years of fascinating history followed us all day. From chaotic traffic, buzzing tourists, treasure coves, ancient churches, beautiful artwork and sculptures, fountains, buildings and marble. With so much to see and do you could spend a lifetime in Rome and never get bored. I think we left Rome with an urgency to one day soon return to its intrigue and special charm.

Sorrento and Capri can only be described as heavenly and beautiful. We felt for 3 days that we were living in a story book and living a dream. The surrounding and the views and the unusual calm can not be described until you live it. You open your eyes in the morning to views out of this world and you close your eyes to a feeling of peace and tranquility that we have never felt any where else before.
Pompeii allowed my wildest of imagination to run riot. It's such an incredible history with such a forlorn story to tell that you can almost feel the bewilderment and panic engulf you while you're walking amongst the ruins. This tragic event captured a moment in time and everyting was preserved, such as artwork, buildings and the people. We only had a half day but a full day would still not give you enough time to truly adventure and catpure the spirit of Pompeii.
Bari offers a fine mixture of modern and ancient, the old town which has character and charm, a huge and ancient castle. We spent 2 days in Bari, unplanned. Our ferry to Dubrovnik was long gone by the time we arrived by train from Naples. At first we were so disappointed but we made the best of it with lovely walks along the harbour, playing cards and having picnics in pretty parks, visiting the local pubs and cafes and venturing in and out of the old city.
You can dream about faraway places like Venice but to live Venice is something out of this world. With mouth hanging open and eyes lost in the splendour and wonder of this incredible city we got lost and found in ancient wonder, narrow canals and tiny bridges, colourful flowers hanging from balconies, gondolas and singing gondoliers, boats and music. I could go on and never end reliving and remembering our treasured moments in Venice.
